How do I tell whether trend videos are still worth making?
If you are running into a format everywhere outside the app, you are late to it. The usable signal is a format you keep noticing that has not yet been done by every account you follow.
Should I copy a trending video exactly?
Copy the structure, not the content. Feeds hold back uploads that read as duplicates, and the accounts a trend actually carries are the ones that put something specific inside a shape people already recognise.
Are trends worth chasing with no audience yet?
They are the cheapest distribution a new account has, because the format does the discovery and you only need to be a better version of it. The catch is that it teaches the feed what you are, so pick trends near the thing you actually want to post about.
